Individualism
"That one word—individualism—is to be the theme song, the goal, the only aim of all my writing. If I have any real mission in life—this is it."
—Ayn Rand

Houses and Birth Certificates For Sale: At a Little Red and Orange Corner Store
7/3/09
Where would you go to buy a copy of Barack Hussein Obama's Kenyan birth certificate? |
Obama Creates Thousands of New Jobs
6/15/09
The jobs are risky, but very lucrative for those willing to take the risks, and require no previous experience of special training. Almost anyone with a driver's license (or at least the ability to drive) can do this job. |
Characteristics of Hateful Terrorists
6/12/09
"Hate is out of control in the post Bush years. ... The point is these atrocious actions are the result of the politics of hate. Words spoken in the world of 24/7 news do have an impact." says Michelle Kraus.
So this is the second act of right-wing terror ... says Michael Tomasky, editor of Guardian America, affiliate of Britain's socialist The Guardian.
So what are they talking about? |
Obama's Queer Agenda
6/11/09
I'm using the word "queer" in the sense the The American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language: Fourth Edition. gives their third definition, "of a questionable nature or character; suspicious," to which I would add "of questionable honesty and decency." I'm also using it in the supposedly "offensive to gay men, lesbians, bisexuals, and transgendered people" sense. |
To Serve and Protect
6/8/09
If they aren't
killing you, they're beating or tasering you. |
Dying for Property Rights
6/7/09
Seen on many fences in this country is a sign that reads: "Trespassers will be shot. Survivors will be prosecuted." Whether there is such a sign or not, that ought to be the understood nature of all privately owned property, and anyone who intentionally trespasses on someone else's property, without their permission, should know they are in danger of being shot. |
Getting It, but Getting It Wrong
6/7/09 | There is something wrong here, but most people, like Debbie Schlussel get it backwards. The MSM news was all agog over the compassion of deli store owner, Mohammad Sohail. After foiling an attempted robbery, the "kind-hearted" Muslim store owner gave the would-be robber food and money. |
People Are What They Do
6/7/09
You won't find in any of the reports any mention of "homosexuality." It's simply called "sexual assault!" |
The End of the Land of the Free
Reginald Firehammer—5/31/09 | Who could have said these things? Are these the words of a Libertarian, an American philosopher, a Patriot, or perhaps an Objectivist follower of Rand? |
The Biggest Lie
4/29/09 | "As of yesterday, the outbreak of swine flu in humans had claimed 149 lives in Mexico and infected 40 Americans," ...and NONE have died. Some 36,000 Americans and a million people world-wide die each year from the common flu. Apparently the number of American cases has now jumped to, (hold your breath) a whole 68. |
America's Muslim Terror Camps
3/30/09 | In a recent phone conversation with one of my sons, I learned he was completely unaware that there are a number of Muslim para-military, most likely terrorist training camps, in America. He was both surprised and a bit shocked, and I promised to send him some links where he could learn about this apparently under-reported fact. |
Going Galt
3/26/09 | Perhaps there really will be a revolution. One has begun, that is for sure. "Going Galt," is the new code word of those who are choosing to make themselves free of growing government oppression by ceasing to feed the beast that is oppressing them. |
Atlas Shrugged: A Model for Individualist Revolution
3/26/09 | Revolution is not the theme of Atlas Shrugged, the theme is rebellion, a rebellion of men against the chains of slavery, chains they had themselves made and given to their masters. The result of that rebellion is a revolution, but revolution is not the purpose of the rebellion. |
This Is Censorship
3/23/09 | There are many ways that free speech may be suppressed, such as black mail, or the repudiation of someone's character or motives—because someone is equally silenced if no one will listen to them as they are if they are prevented from speaking. |
This is not Censorship, but ...
3/22/09 | Apparently Pamela Geller's "Atlas Shrugged" site is being blocked by at least one WEB filtering software company, which some businesses and individuals use to prevent offensive sites from being accessed by employees, children, or themselves. |
THS: Two Black Men
3/20/09
Here are two men, one a true Hero, the other, the example of all that is wrong in this world. Guess which one is vilified, and which is admired—and by whom.
If you've never seen pure hate, now you will have. |
Another Christian Mistake
5/24/09 | I am and always will be a defender of Christians, though I am not one myself. I defend them, not for their beliefs, some of which I very much disagree with, but for the kind of people they are, and because they are defenders of individual liberty, integrity, honesty, and decency. |
My Christian Friends' Bad Mistake
3/19/09 | I am not a Christian, but I am certainly not the enemy of Christians, and have always defended Christianity, especially against certain ignorant atheists and others who truly are the enemies of Christianity, as in my article: "Three Books: An Atheist's Defense of Christianity." |
THS: Muslim Babies
3/10/09
Mark Steyn makes much of the fact that Islam is winning because they are
out breeding the West.
Oriana Fallaci's description is delightful, "the followers of Islamic fundamentalism multiply like a protozoa of a cell which splits to become two cells then four then eight then sixteen then thirty-two to infinity." Up 'til now, there were only the statistics, but there is now evidence of how these Muslims are producing babies like machine-gun fire. |
Critique: The Truth Is Not Negotiable
3/4/09 | Negotiation is Jim Camp's business. Naturally, his articles tend to emphasize the role of negotiation in human relationships. His most recent article, however, presents a very wrong view of negotiation. I am sure that was not Jim's intention, but it is a common (almost universal) mistake about the nature of true negotiation. |

A Free Market of Ideas
George Bernard Shaw said: "Liberty means responsibility. That is why most men dread it." It is true, most people are terrified of liberty, petrified they might have to be responsible for their own lives. "The Autonomist," is not for them.

America, the Silly Nation
Alan Caruba—7/3/09 As we prepare to celebrate Independence Day, we will hear about our Founding Fathers, about those who fought our wars to preserve and safeguard our nation, and other men and women who contributed to the nation's greatness. |
Independence Now And Forever
Chuck Baldwin—7/3/09 As we approach Independence Day, it behooves us to recall the principles of America's founding, especially in light of the ongoing attempt by today's political and commercial leaders to merge the United States into a hemispheric government. In fact, the clarion call for independence is just as fundamental, just as revolutionary as it was 233 years ago. |
Cap and Trade Will Lead to Capital Flight
Ron Paul—7/2/09 In my last column, I joked that with public spending out of control and the piling on of the international bailout bill, economic collapse seems to be the goal of Congress. It is getting harder to joke about such a thing however, as the non-partisan General Accounting Office (GAO) has estimated that the administration’s health care plan would actually cost over a trillion dollars. This reality check may have given us a temporary reprieve on this particular disastrous policy, however an equally disastrous energy policy reared its ugly head on Capitol Hill last week. |
I Miss America, Already!
J. D. Longstreet—7/2/09 With the 4th of July, celebrated as Independence Day in the United States, fast approaching, scribes all over the nation are dutifully dipping their quills into their inkpots to scribble the obligatory few lines on the topic: "What America Means to me", again this year, as in every year since, well, since there has been an America, I suppose. |
Eco-Minister Flunks Global Warming Test
Dennis T. Avery—7/1/09 CHURCHVILLE, VA-When last we heard from Australian Senator Steve Fielding, he had paid his own way to a Washington, D.C. conference of climate skeptics-and armed himself with some questions about why Australia needs heavy carbon taxes on its energy use. |
An Open letter to the NC delegation to the US Senate from a Constituent
J. D. Longstreet—7/1/09 Dear Senator:
I respectfully ask that you vote against the "Cap and Trade" bill (The American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009) soon to come before the US Senate. |
An Endangered America
Alan Caruba—7/1/09 "My God! How little do my countrymen know what precious blessings they are in possession of, and which no other people on earth enjoy!" said Thomas Jefferson, the author of the Declaration of Independence and our third President. As usual, he was right. |
Responding to Ms. Bonner and Mr. Powell
Burt Prelutsky—6/29/09 In recent days, my attention was grabbed by former Secretary of State Colin Powell and Yelena Bonner, the widow of Soviet dissident Andrei Sakharov. |
The Growing American Tyranny and How To Stop It
Tom DeWeese—6/29/09 First, “We the People Foundation” President Bob Schulz will address the conference during the Friday night banquet. He will discuss the upcoming Continental Congress and the need for all Americans to stand up to defend our liberty. A dramatic highlight of his presentation will be the signing by all conference participants of a new document pledging our allegiance to the Constitution, the Declaration of Independence and the Bill of Rights. |
Coming Soon: Illegal Cigarettes at a Bootlegger Near You!
J. D. Longstreet—6/29/09 Oh, yes, I am a southern boy, a piedmont (foothills of the mountains/southern boy), and I hail from a long and distinguished line of some of the finest bootleggers in the country. And - I am proud of it. |
Government Gone Mad in a Total Surveillance Society
Tom DeWeese—6/26/09 I've heard it all- the cries, the pleas, the whines, the double speak and the lies. "We need the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to protect us from terrorists." "We must have Real ID to protect us from illegal immigration." "We must have E-Verify to protect American jobs." "Traffic light cameras are necessary to make the streets safer." "Security cameras on street corners make our neighborhoods safer." "I'm glad the TSA is there at the airport - I feel so much safer getting on an airplane." And my favorite lie of them all - "If you have nothing to hide you have nothing to fear." |
Islamo-fascism, Judaeo-fascism, Bapto-fascism, and Why We Need More Bars
Fred Reed—6/26/09 The wheels are squeaking on the tumbrel methinks. At a recent conclave held by AIPAC, unease arose, reasonably enough, over eroding American support for Israel. What apparently did not arise was any indication of understanding of why support is eroding. |
International Bailout Brings Us Closer to Economic Collapse
Ron Paul—6/26/09 Last week Congress passed the war supplemental appropriations bill. In an affront to all those who thought they voted for a peace candidate, the current president will be sending another $106 billion we don’t have to continue the bloodshed in Afghanistan and Iraq, without a hint of a plan to bring our troops home. |
ObamaCare: A Symptom
J. D. Longstreet—6/26/09 A government run health Insurance company would be exactly the tool needed to shutter private insurance companies in America and drive currently insured Americans into the arms of the government owned company while at the same time demonstrating the "need" for a universal healthcare system even though the "need" was created by the government itself. |
Overheated White House Campaigns
Dennis T. Avery—6/25/09 It was only a matter of time before First Lady Michelle Obama sprang to the wall of the White House Organic Garden and demanded more organic food-a heartfelt campaign fully as sincere as her husband's ongoing demand that the affluent countries fight off man-made global warming by taxing away most of their energy. However, both the First Lady's and the President's campaigns share the same problem: Both are based on politically-correct illusions. |
America's Atmosphere of Fear, Guilt, and Restraint
J. D. Longstreet—6/25/09 I am absolutely convinced that had America had the government we have today back in oh, say, the late seventeen hundreds and eighteen hundreds we would never have grown into the world power we became and, in fact, were - up until last year. |
Public’s Best Interest, Disinterested Public
Marita K. Noon—6/24/09 June 5, 2009 was the culmination of a seventeen-month battle for Mount Taylor where the decision to make the temporary Traditional Cultural Property designation (TCP) permanent was announced--New Mexico's 1 million acre land grab. |
From Jimmy Carter to Barack Obama: A Horror Story
Alan Caruba—6/24/09 John F. Kennedy, standing in front of the Berlin Wall, said "Ich bin en Berliner" to declare his solidarity with Western Germany, divided from its eastern half by the compromises with the Soviet Union at the end of World War II. Ronald Reagan would later demand, "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall" as well as declare his solidarity with the Polish people seeking to free themselves from Soviet domination. |
``Boss Obama`` Driving Americans, Of All Colors, Onto The Government Plantation!
J. D. Longstreet—6/24/09 As Americans whisper about their government these days (because they fear it. The government, I mean.). We ordinary Americans have noticed a phenomenon that seems to have escaped the notice of the liberal/socialists in that government, including the President. |
US government’s climate con-job
Paul Driessen—6/23/09 Suppose a company doctored data, misrepresented study findings, replaced observations with computer simulations, and hired PR flacks to promote its new “wonder drug.” News stories, congressional hearings and subpoenas would be in overdrive. Fines and jail sentences would follow. And rightly so. |
